*** RECENT CHANGE- There will be two age brackets.
Ages 10-16
17-Adult
Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign their waiver also.
4:00 p.m. 4th of July, 2024. Wellington, Ohio
Tug-Of-War
Teams: Will consist of 4 people.
Please go to Main Street Wellington tent near the Gazebo to register your team by Noon on July 4th.
Registration: Full name, contact information for all team members including a photo release/liability form will need signed by each player.
Game: Teams will play elimination rounds. We will try to match teams as evenly as possible. All male team vs. another all male team etc. The amount of rounds teams play depends on how many teams sign up.
There will need to be a minimum of 2 teams to play for a prize. One team that signs up will not automatically win.
Prizes: for both age brackets.
The final winning will receive $100.
The second place winning team will receive $60.
The Rules:
Team members may not wear gloves nor wrap the rope around their body/limbs.
Team members may not where cleats or spiked shoes/boots for safety reasons.
The game involves usage of a 50 foot cotton rope (1 inch diameter).
There is a red mark in the middle of the rope. This red mark on the rope needs to be at a perpendicular angle to the exact center point on the ground, before the game begins.
A white mark is made exactly 6 feet from the red mark on either sides of the rope. The game is won when either side with this white mark crosses the center point that is marked on the ground.
As soon as the referee blows the whistle or says "Pull", each team can start pulling the rope into their territory. The objective of the game is for each team to pull the rope along with the members of opposition team to their side. As soon as the white mark on the rope from the center red mark crosses over to center line, the team to pull the rope to their area wins the game.
Judge:
Once the pull command is said the teams start pulling the rope. If a member of the team falls down that member is given a caution. Each team is allowed two cautions before getting disqualified.
Fouls: Lowering your elbow below the knee level while pulling the rope is considered to be a foul and is called ‘locking’. Touching the ground for a longer period of time is also considered as a foul.
