We are a Proud Partner of THRIVE! Southern Lorain County!
THRIVE! Southern Lorain County is a new collaborative, funded by the United Way of Lorain County, that is dedicated to helping you and your family live healthier. Our mission is to reduce the risks of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in the region.
Few programs are in place to support health and wellness in southern Lorain County. Data has shown that 69% of adults are obese and 24% are smokers – much higher than the county average. What's more, the poverty rate in rural southern Lorain County is as high as the most impoverished neighborhoods of our cities. THRIVE! Southern Lorain County will again sponsor our Fall 5K/10K/1 Mile Walk - The Healthy Heart Halloween Hustle that takes place on Saturday, October 14th at 9:30 a.m. The proceeds of the race are split between The Dukes Running Club which helps fund Wellington High School track programs; and Main Street Wellington. Main Street Wellington also has put more thought into adding more physical activities and healthier food options to their annual events. Together with THRIVE! Southern Lorain County we are helping our residents improve their lives. |
