Our Board decided that we wanted to honor people who have volunteered a great deal of time for the Village of Wellington.  This award goes beyond just Main Street Wellington.  Morris Furcron was a true public servant and gave a great deal of time to many causes within the Village: Kiwanis, the Police Department, and more.  We named the award after him and aspire to be as dedicated as all of the deserving people who receive this award.

Nomination for Morris Furcron Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award

Morris Furcron Outstanding Citizen of the Year Criteria

We believe that current leaders, even those on a smaller scale, can inspire more positive acts of service.  Additional years of service in and outside of Wellington, is appreciated, but this award is to honor of someone/group that gives to Wellington.  They are a current “every day” type of leader, perhaps one that hides in the background.  Therefore, the award will not be given posthumously, nor is this meant to be a “lifetime achievement” type of award.

Criteria: nominees can be an individual, couple, group, or business who has given an abundant amount of time and talent to better the community of Wellington within the past three years.
Main Street Wellington Friends/Partners may nominate citizens each year through mid-June.  The award is typically given out during the Independence Day Celebration.  A committee comprised of board and committee members will read each nomination and choose the winner who will be announced at an event or at a Village Council meeting.

The winner(s) will receive their name(s) engraved on a plaque that will be displayed at the Wellington Town Hall.  There will be press releases and social media announcements etc.
People/groups may be nominated more than once, but they are not able to win more than once.
