The Main Street Approach
Main Street Wellington is a National Main Street Community and a Main Street program with Heritage of Ohio, Inc.
HOI: follows the four principles of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street Program: Design- Improving the downtown's image by improving its physical appearance. Examples of projects: downtown flower arrangements, design contests, Historic Preservation workshops, Home and Garden tours etc. Promotion- Marketing the downtown's unique characteristics, creating a positive image of downtown. Projects involve events to attract visitors to town, promoting businesses, and the Village. Economic Restructuring- Strengthening and diversifying the downtown economic base. Assisting businesses with networking, workshops, maps, directories, etc. Organization- Building consensus and cooperation among groups that play a role in the downtown area. Board members typically begin in January and are a three year term. Occasionally, we have board members leave and spots open up throughout the year.
